Scott Neeson best Combodia news maker

    Who is Scott Neeson ?

Scott led an accomplished career in the international film business prior to founding CCF. As President of 20th Century Fox International, Scott oversaw the release and marketing of several of the top films of all time – including ‘Braveheart,’ ‘Titanic,’ ‘Star Wars’ and ‘X-men’ – and managed gross revenues in excess of $1.5 billion dollars. In 2003, Neeson left Fox to head Sony Pictures International marketing operations. in 2004 Neeson resigned from his 26-year film career and began the process of his relocation to Cambodia, selling his home, car, boat and other assets. All initial costs for the establishment and operation of the first CCF facility were covered by Neeson, who now acts as the organization’s full-time Executive Director. In 2007, Scott was awarded the inaugural Harvard School of Public Health “Q Prize” in recognition of his extraordinary leadership in advocacy for children.

What Scott Neeson did for Combodia and why its big Combodia News ?

Scott Neeson left Hollywood to save children rooting in Cambodia’s garbage dumps.

He sold his mansion, Porsche, and yacht and set off for Cambodia to provide food, shelter, and education to destitute children.

Scott Neeson’s final epiphany came one day in June 2004. The high-powered Hollywood executive stood, ankle deep in trash, at the sprawling landfill of Stung Meanchey, a poor shantytown in Cambodia’s capital.

Scott Neeson, a former head of 20th Century Fox International, cares for more than 1,000 Cambodian children and their families.

In a haze of toxic fumes and burning waste, swarms of Phnom Penh’s most destitute were rooting through refuse, jostling for scraps of recyclables in newly dumped loads of rubbish. They earned 4,000 riel ($1) a day – if they were lucky.

Many of the garbage sorters were young children. Covered in filthy rags, they were scruffy, sickly, and sad.

Clasped to Mr. Neeson’s ear was his cellphone. Calling the movie mogul from a US airport, a Hollywood superstar’s agent was complaining bitterly about inadequate in-flight entertainment on a private jet that Sony Pictures Entertainment, where Neeson was head of overseas theatrical releases, had provided for his client.

Neeson overheard the actor griping in the background. ” ‘My life wasn’t meant to be this difficult.’ Those were his exact words,” Neeson says. “I was standing there in that humid, stinking garbage dump with children sick with typhoid, and this guy was refusing to get on a Gulfstream IV because he couldn’t find a specific item onboard,” he recalls. “If I ever wanted validation I was doing the right thing, this was it.”

Doing the right thing meant turning his back on a successful career in the movie business, with his $1 million salary. Instead, he would dedicate himself full time to a new mission: to save hundreds of the poorest children in one of the world’s poorest countries.

Much to everyone’s surprise, within months the Australian native, who as president of 20th Century Fox International had overseen the global success of block-busters like “Titanic,” “Braveheart,” and “Die Another Day,” quit Hollywood. He sold his mansion in Los Angeles and held a garage sale for “all the useless stuff I owned.” He sold off his Porsche and yacht, too.

His sole focus would now be his charity, the Cambodian Children’s Fund, which he had set up the previous year after coming face to face, while on vacation in Cambodia, with children living at the garbage dump.

“The perks in Hollywood were good – limos, private jets, gorgeous girlfriends, going to the Academy Awards,” says Neeson, an affable man with careworn features and a toothy smile. “But it’s not about what lifestyle I’d enjoy more when I can make life better for hundreds of children.”

He sits at his desk barefoot, Cambodian-style, in white canvas pants and a T-shirt. At times he even sounds like a Buddhist monk. “You’ve got to take the ego out of it,” he says. “One person’s self-indulgence versus the needs of hundreds of children, that’s the moral equation.

Please share to your social circle to praise his philanthropy.

The stresses and worries in life EXPLAINED

stresses -worries-in-life

A psychologist walked around a room while teaching stress management to an audience. As she raised a glass of water, everyone expected they’d be asked the “half empty or half full” question. Instead, with a smile on her face, she inquired: “How heavy is this glass of water?”

Answers called out ranged from 8 oz. to 20 oz.

She replied, “The absolute weight doesn’t matter. It depends on how long I hold it. If I hold it for a minute, it’s not a problem. If I hold it for an hour, I’ll have an ache in my arm. If I hold it for a day, my arm will feel numb and paralyzed. In each case, the weight of the glass doesn’t change, but the longer I hold it, the heavier it becomes.” She continued, “The stresses and worries in life are like that glass of water. Think about them for a while and nothing happens. Think about them a bit longer and they begin to hurt. And if you think about them all day long, you will feel paralyzed – incapable of doing anything.”

It’s important to remember to let go of your stresses. As early in the evening as you can, put all your burdens down. Don’t carry them through the evening and into the night. Remember to put the glass down!

H1b recapture time procedure explained

H1b recapture time procedure explained

Immigrants to USA knows that an H1b term is valid for only 6 years. The employers of h1b visa holders needs to apply for their green card before their final year of the employees 6th year. There can be situations where your green card application gets a query or RFE, in either Labor or I-140 period and you may need more time in your application process. I was on my final year, I got into that category and I needed to buy some time before the immigration attorney can apply for an Appeal for my approved Labor application.

By US immigration USCIS law, we can recapture the time you have spent outside the US during your 6 year period / Stay in the US. The time might have spent visiting your parents in India or your home country (I spent close to 120 days in India as I was visiting every year), or even  it can be a long personal time off or vacation outside USA (But still the h1b was valid and your were employed by an employer). The attorney’s will need the following documents for a successful recapture of this time :

  • Exact dates of your travel outside USA

Make sure you give your immigration attorneys the exact dates of travel from USA. They should match with the below supporting documents and the dates stored in the US immigration department database. Give the dates in a good tabular format so that the attorneys can easily calculate how many days you can re-capture in your application.

  • The date stamps on your passports

Every time you enter the american soil, the immigration folks (At the point of entry interview process) stamps the ‘check-in’ date on your passport. You will need to make sure you take a scan of these pages for your application – Hoping they are clearly printed.

  • Your airline tickets (If needed)

Its an added option to prove your case that you left the united states and can be used for an extra proof. I was requested by my attorneys to give as additional documents. So make sure you are saving a copy (as a PDF document) of your tickets for future use – Its comes handy at this time.

  • I-94 cards(If needed)

There can be cases in which the stamps in your passports are not clear – the I-94 cards comes to your help as they note the date of entry. I recommend that you scan the copies of the I-94 cards for future use. Note: You are required to submit your I-94 cards to the airline companies when you leave the country when travelling- so make sure you scan your I-94 page in your passport after you enter the country every time or from the approved i-797 approval notice .

These are some more information from USCIS on recapture time for h1b and L1 visa holders (For extra reading):

  • The burden of proof remains with the H-1B petitioner and/or the H-1B beneficiary to submit evidence documenting any and all exact periods of physical presence outside the United States when seeking an extension of petition validity and extension of stay as an H-1B nonimmigrant.
  • Because section 214(c)(2)(D) of the Act states that “the period of
authorized admission for” an L-1 nonimmigrant admitted to render services in a
managerial or executive capacity shall not exceed 7 years, or an L-1 nonimmigrant
admitted to render services in a capacity that involves specialized knowledge shall
not exceed 5 years, and because “admission” is defined as “the lawful entry of the
alien into the United States after inspection and authorization by an immigration
officer” only time spent in the United States as an L-1 counts towards the maximum. Thus, upon requesting an extension, the L-1 nonimmigrant can request that full days spent outside the U.S. during the period of petition validity be recaptured and added back to his or her total maximum period of stay. As always, it is the applicant/petitioner’s burden to demonstrate eligibility, and appropriate evidence, such as copies of passport stamps, I-94’s and/or plane tickets must be submitted.

I am so glad that I got my h1b extension by recapturing my days outside USA and got a chance to buy some more time before the next step (request for a 1 year extension for my approved labor application in Green card).

Hope this details helps. If you may have any questions, please feel free to add your question as a comment to this blog post and I can try giving you more details.

Rahul gandhi interview Arnab Goswami VIDEO

For the first time, Congress Vice President & Congress Poll Campaign Chief Rahul Gandhi opens up to an elaborate sit-down interview with TIMES NOW Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami. For the first time after his political debut in 2004, Rahul Gandhi takes direct questions on wide range of subjects on Frankly Speaking. In the biggest political interview of 2014, Arnab Goswami asks all the questions that India wanted answers from the Gandhi scion.

My personal thoughts on his performance in this interview :

  • Felt sorry for him – definitely not prepared and ready to take on bigger questions like what Arnab asked in this interview. He definitely made a fool of himself by not answering the simple and straight questions put by the editor-in-chief.
  • Congress party will definitely loose this election if he is still being projected as the Vice president of the party.
  • He was definitely not sure what to answer for questions on Modi’s involvement in Gujrat Riots, 1983 Sikh riots and the congress involvement, His views on AAP and Aravind Kejriwal etc

Here are some questions where Rahul Ghandhi was non-answerable and clueless :

  1. It’s been 10 years as an MP for you, you fought your first election in 2004 & this is your first TV interview. Why has it taken so long?
  2. Rahul Gandhi the first point is this; you have just avoided this whole question about whether you are open to PM’s post. It seems to me Rahul that you are avoiding a difficult contest.
  3.  Are you avoiding a direct face-off with Narendra Modi? Is there a fear of loss Rahul because this election is not looking good for the Congress party from overall estimates? And the growing belief is that if Rahul Gandhi has not picked up the challenge officially that means that there is a fear of loss, he is avoiding a direct one on one battle with Narendra Modi, you must answer that?
  4. Once you have decided to get into politics and you are leading your party effectively, you can’t be leading your party by half, so I’ll throw the question, with respect, back to you, Narendra Modi is challenging you on a daily basis?
  5. What is your view, would like to expound your views, your PM accuses Narendra Modi in his press conference of presiding over “the mass massacre of innocent citizens on the streets of Ahmedabad.” Mr. Rahul Gandhi my question to you is this, do you agree with your PM when he says that?
  6. Specifically speaking how is Narendra Modi, your party criticised him for the 2002 Gujarat riots, and how can you do that when he has been given a clean chit in the Gulbarg massacre by the SIT of the court. It was challenged in the court, the court upheld the SIT finding and therefore legally speaking Mr. Gandhi you cannot draw Narendra Modi into the Gujarat riots, implicate him personally. Do you believe that strategy of your party is fundamentally wrong?
  7. I am sure you don’t, my question is do you acknowledge the role of Congress men in the 1984 riots because there must be justice. Mr. Gandhi there has to be finality, the Gujarat riot cases have moved forward and many people have got justice, if I just compare that to the 1984 riots, you can look at the status and case history of what happened to Mr. Sajjan Kumar, Jagdish Tytler, HKL Bhagat, Dharam Das Shastri and the one story that you hear there is these cases are endless, they go on for the longest period of time. I am asking you again, Mr. Gandhi before you seek an apology from Modi would you apologise for the 1984 riots, would that be something that you consider?
  8. Mr. Gandhi let’s move on to the RTI. Which is the single biggest legislation to combat corruption. Which you said in your speech at the AICC that was something that you were speaking about. Now, I find it ironical that a party which has 90.38% of its funds from cash between 2008 and 2012. 89.11% of its money comes from unaccounted sources, unnamed sourced. Why would you not say charity begins at home? And let us put the Congress party and its funds under the scanner of the RTI. Why would you not bring the same freshness of perspective in this case as you did when you dealt with the issue of the ordinance.
  9. Was it part of the empowerment of people that Ashok Chavan was protected in the Adarsh Scam despite the fact that the judicial commission actually said that he was involved in a quid pro quo? A Chief Minister, an ex Chief Minister forced to go because of one of the biggest scams. Which was by the way Mr. Rahul Gandhi played out greatly on TIMES NOW. Is he being protected? The CBI is not getting permission to prosecute him. You can say all this Mr. Rahul Gandhi about the legislative framework to fight corruption. But my question to you is more fundamental. You have not shown the political will to use your tremendous influence to ensure that Ashok Chavan faces justice. You said a little bit and you moved back. Why are you still protecting Ashok Chavan.
  10. The other question is, should you have spoken up much much earlier? You know you didn’t. Everyone wants to know today why you didn’t speak up during 2G. Why didn’t you speak up during Coalgate? Why didn’t you speak up? I think it was June 2010 that TIMES NOW broke the CWG scam and railgate. You could have spoken up. And you can’t take the defence that you were not very actively there. You have for some time been effectively in-charge of the 2014 re-election campaign.

Please add your thoughts as comments – Do you think he is ready to be part of Indian politics ? Did he answer any of the questions that Arnab put forward? Does he understand Indian politics and history of Indian national congress?

Gandhi movie first ever rare video 1931

The video was shot on April 30th 1931, when moving pictures were so new and uncommon. As said in the video, Mahatma was not much interested in getting photographed or being filmed. Also the interviewer was told that mahatma has a feeble voice and will be difficult to capture in his camera. Gandhi gave this interview to Fox Movietone News and also met the peasants of Bardoli. This precious clipping is from the archives of Fox News Movietone.

Some of the questions asked in the interview were :

  • What ware the next steps if England does not agree to your demands ?
  • If India wins its independence will you work on abolishing child marriages?
  • Will England give India full selg-governance authority?
  • For the next round-table discussion, Will you go in Indian dress or an european dress ? (I can’t still understand the reasoning behind this question – interesting journalism)
  • If england is not ready to agree to your demands, are you prepared to return to the Jail ?

Also watch the full movie “Ghandi” below : Gandhi is a 1982 epic biographical film which dramatises the life of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, the leader of India’s non-violent, non-cooperative independence movement against the United Kingdom’s rule of the country during the 20th century. Gandhi was a collaboration of British and Indian production companiesand was written by John Briley and produced and directed by Richard Attenborough. It stars Ben Kingsley in the titular role.

Read what Arvind Kejriwal’s IIT classmate says about him

I know Arvind since our IIT Days. Since I know the man like the back of my hand, it really pains me in reading all these misinformed opinions of him. He is one of the most intelligent & knowledgeable persons I have come across in my life & definitely the most selfless & honest.

On those IIT Days also, while we all were thinking about our career & thinking of leaving India at
the 1st opportunity, he was hell bent on doing something to change the face of India. He was a big fan of V.P. Singh those days & was very inspired with his honesty (bofors) & efforts to achieve social justice (mandal commission). He was almost a non-believer & hated BJP for the mandir movement. Whoever is accusing him to be a RSS/BJP agent has no idea what he/she is talking about.

Those doubting his honesty/integrity should be informed that he was Joint Commissioner, Income Tax Dept in Delhi when he resigned from IRS. By conservative estimates, officer of this rank in Delhi/Mumbai makes atleast Rs. 1 crore per month from external sources (you can make out what these external sources can be).

How many of us can dedicate our life to the nation when such a lucrative career is infront of us? I am making USD 125000/month here & he was 10 times brighter than me.

I appeal to all Indians (irrespective of caste/religion) to not let go of this chance to reclaim our country from these corrupt politicians. It is because of our “Chalta Hai” & “Dont Care” attitude that things have come to this.

And lastly, if you can’t do anything for the country, at least please don’t accuse Kejriwal of being communal/arrogant/dishonest without checking the facts. We all batchmates (belonging to various castes/ religions) believe that if India can elect 100 leaders like Kejriwal to the Parliament, the country will be counted among the best in 10 years time.

If you support AAP, Please Like and Share this article on Facebook.

Disclaimer: This a facebook share that I am sharing on my personal blog. I am not Aravind’s classmate but the above information was shared by one of his IIT classmates showing his support to Aravind. I am really not sure about the authenticity of the article (as it was a facebook share) but still believe in Aravind’s triumph.

Please read this article too on IITian too.

After finding that Nick Vijucic got engaged to Kanae in July 2011, I decided to add my favorite quotes from Nick Vijucic. People who don’t know much about Nick :

” Nicholas James Vujicic, aka Mr.Pillow (born on 4 December 1982) is an Australian preacher and motivational speaker born with Tetra-amelia syndrome, a rare disorder characterized by the absence of all four limbs. As a child, he struggled mentally and emotionally, as well as physically, but eventually came to terms with his disability and, at the age of seventeen, started his own non-profit organization, Life Without Limbs. Vujicic presents motivational speeches worldwide, on life with a disability, hope, and finding meaning in life. ”

“If the world thinks you’re not good enough, it’s a lie, you know. Get a second opinion.”

” We can’t, and we should not, compare sufferings. We come together as a family of God, hand in hand. “The challenges in our lives are there to STRENGTHEN our CONVICTIONS. They are NOT there to run us over.”

“I never met a bitter person who was thankful. Or a thankful person who was bitter.”

“If I fail, I try again, and again, and again. If YOU fail, are you going to try again? The human spirit can handle much worse than we realize. It matters HOW you are going to FINISH. Are you going to finish strong?”

“If you have the desire and passion to do something, and it’s within God’s will, you will achieve it.”

“In life you have a choice: Bitter or Better? Choose better, forget bitter.”

About God, Nick said, “He doesn’t love you if…He loves you always.”

“You should never live according to what you lack. Instead, live as though you can do anything you dream of doing.”

“Too often fears of failing or being disappointed or being rejected paralyze us. Rather than face those fears, we surrender to them and limit ourselves.”
